Weekly harvest report for weeks 23,24 and 25 of 2019

Usually I would be sharing my weekly harvest report every Sunday. I've been a bit lax for the last few weeks due to technical issues. In this post I will share the weekly harvest report for the last few weeks.

Weekly harvest report

Over the last few weeks I have harvested the following

• 60 chicken eggs which would have cost us £15.00 from a shop.
• 21 quail eggs which would have cost us £4.41 from a shop.
• 4kg rhubarb which would have cost us £15.00 from a shop.
• 20 garlic bulbs which would have cost us £6 from a shop.
• 5 globe artichokes which would have cost us£10 from a shop???
• 1kg new potatoes which would have cost us £2.50 from a shop.
• 1kg strawberries which would have cost us £5.00 from a shop.
• 1kg raspberries which would have cost us £13.34 from a shop.
• 1.5kg gooseberries which would have cost us £7.50 from a shop.
• a selection of herbs and salad leaf harvested as and when required. We allow £1 for this.

That brings the total for these few weeks to £79.75 and the total for the year so far to £322.28.

Despite not being able to publish the result for these weeks till now I am really pleased with what has really came in. There is plenty of food that has made there first appearance this year such as new potatoes. This is demonstrating that the harvests are really starting to come in.

You will notice that I put a lot of question marls after the globe artichokes. That is because the price I found online for this seems a little pricey. £2 per artichoke seems a lot but then I have never bought them so do not know if this is usual.

From the vegepod

From the vegepod we have harvested

• 2kg of salad leaf which would have cost £20 from a shop
• Some small carrot thinning's however I cant find a price for these. We will count these as a bonus.
• 300g mustard leaf which would have cost us £3.00

That means we have harvested £23.00 of food from the vegepod over the last few weeks and £42 from it so far.

The salad leaf quantity is high as we removed the first sowings in order to resew the next lot of plants. I am finding this consecutive sowing to be really efficient way to use the vegepod.

This weeks spenditure

Over the last few weeks I have spent on the following items in growing my own.

• £2 on some wood shaving
• £7.40 on a bag of chicken feed
• £4.40 on a bag of quail feed
• £5.98 on some pepper plants
• £6.98 on some compost

That means I have spent £26.76 over the last few weeks and £326.72 so far this year.
