photos from week 32 of 2017.
Each week I share with you a few photos I have taken in the last week. The following photos were taken in week 32 of 2017.
Chilli Fiesta 2017.
I have mentioned in Monday's podcast that I visited the annual chilli fiesta at West Dean gardens. Another thoroughly enjoyable day out as alway.
The show consists of many stalls selling chilli related items such as chilis, sauces, plants, seeds and cookware and everything in-between.
There was a garden I have never seen before called the spring garden. Around this garden was many sculptures as the house is an art college. The gardens are also pretty impressive with some rather good-looking plants.
However for me the gardens I really like are the walled vegetable patch and orchards.
I love how these gardens have trained pear trees over the arch. A fantastic use of space as well as being architectural pleasing and more importantly edible.
I also like the fact that the food grown in these gardens is used in the coffee shop. For me, that is the type of coffee shop I want to buy from.
There is also a large collection of stunning greenhouses and cold frames. These are under restoration in places but are absolutely stunning. West Dean is also a gardening college so students here are learning how to grow all this food and plants as well as maintain the greenhouses or train espalier trees.
For more information or to visit these gardens please visit the west dean website.
This week's harvests.
As always I like to share what I have harvested this week and that is shown below.
So that's it for this week. apologies for this being late out. Please leave any comments or suggestions below.
