Episode 410. Growing spring cabbages

Join Richard in this weeks vegetable gardening podcast where he is talking about growing spring cabbages. Richard also shares the latest from the allotment and vegetable patch.

The diary

This week Richard has sown several seeds in his potting shed including cabbage, parsley, Coriander and basil to name just a few. Particullery focusing on herbs to grow on the kitchen windowsill through the colder months.

Richard has also started cutting down brunches from a willow tree that is in his garden. This tree although a rather beautiful tree is just in the wrong place and blocks out much of the light from one bed.

Down on the allotment Richard spent an entire day on the allotment, catching up on lots of jobs that the weather recently has prevented him from tackling.

Growing spring cabbages

At this time of year we often don't think about starting many seeds off, however there are plenty of seeds we can start at this time of year and spring cabbages is just one of those.

Sowing cabbages now may well lead us to be able to harvest some tasty cabbages in spring next year. In fact its possible to harvest cabbages all year round with plenty of planning and perperation.
