The Container Victory Garden. #491

Welcome to the latest episode of The Veg Grower Podcast! In this episode, we're sharing some of our recent gardening adventures, including an update from the allotment, a chat with author Maggie Stuckey about her new book the container victory garden, and a delicious cauliflower recipe.

Allotment Update: Helping a Fellow Plot Holder and Clearing Weeds

In our latest visit to the allotment, we had the opportunity to help a fellow plot holder get her car running and clear some weeds from our plots. It's always a pleasure to work together and support each other in our gardening endeavours. We believe that the community aspect of gardening is just as important as the actual growing of plants, and it's great to see everyone come together to create a thriving community garden space.

Container Victory Garden.

We were thrilled to have author Maggie Stuckey on the show to discuss her book "The container victory garden." Container gardening is a great way to grow plants in small spaces, and it can be especially helpful for urban gardeners or those with limited outdoor space. Maggie shared some fantastic tips for beginners and discussed the benefits of container gardening.

If you're interested in starting a container garden, we highly recommend checking out Maggie's book for more detailed advice and inspiration.

Veg Garden Update: Building a Large Vegepod and Buying Compost and Perlite in Bulk

In our own veg garden, we've been busy building a large Vegepod and buying compost and perlite in bulk. The Vegepod is a raised garden bed that comes with its own protective cover, making it easy to grow a variety of plants while protecting them from pests and harsh weather conditions. It's been a lot of work, but we're excited to see the results and share our experience with our listeners.

Delicious Roasted Cauliflower Recipe

Before we sign off, we wanted to share a cauliflower recipe that we've been loving lately. Simply chop up a head of cauliflower into bite-sized pieces, toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, and your favourite spices, and roast in the oven at 220 degrees Celsius (Gas Mark 7) for about 20-25 minutes until golden and crispy. It's a healthy and delicious side dish that's perfect for any meal.

Conclusion

We hope you enjoyed reading about our recent gardening adventures on the allotment and in our veg garden, as well as our chat with Maggie Stuckey about container gardening. We believe that gardening is a wonderful way to connect with nature, promote sustainability, and create a sense of community. If you have any questions or comments, we'd love to hear from you.
