Reference your comments on Green Manure, I can recommend Forage Rye to those who have heavy clay soil. I have sown this successfully and it has made a marked improvement in the texture. I have just cut it down, chopped it up and dug in on 4 raised beds. It is of course not too late to sow now and some prefer to leave in over winter. I get it in, let the worms commence and cover the beds until March time weather dependent. Whilst the clay remains heavy it now is more workable and granular.
