This week Richard has been battling against the heat both on the plots and at work. Whilst being on call this weekend gardening time was a little limited but he made the most of it including

  • Weeding and watering
  • Potting up new plants
  • Harvesting potatoes
  • Sowing green manures

On the hunt for some bargains

This week Richard has been alerted that certain shops up and down the country have started their gardening sales. A way for these shops to start making way for the Halloween and Christmas stock. Great news for us gardeners.

Richard popped into a few of these shops to find what deals he could find that he could use and found

  • Growbags for 50p a bag
  • Compost for £2 a bag
  • Fruit plants for £1
  • Bonsai apple tree for £20

Richard also mentions some bare rooted fruit trees which 2 online shops are

More bargains where also available and might suit you too.

  • That is a good question and the honest answer is I didn’t think of it at the time. Next year I shall include homemade compost
