Seeds to sow in March

March is when seed sowing really kicks off but i still find a bit of patience an pay off.

Sow Direct

• carrots
• parsnips
• onions
• lettuce

Under cover

• Spinach
• Chard
• Cabbage
• Cauliflower

Indoors

• Sweet peppers
• Chilli peppers
• Tomatoes
• Cucumbers
• Herbs such as parsley, coriander, oregano

Tasks for March

March is also a busy time in the veg garden and allotment but keep it simple and concentrate on the following

• Keep on top of the weeds
• Feed wildlife in order to control pests
• Warm up the soil using cloches or black material
• Force early crops such as Strawberries
• Water greenhouses if required
• Finish any winter digging and pruning
• Prepare potato beds ahead of planting potatoes this month.
