Weekly harvest report.
On a weekly basis, I like to report on what I harvest each week. This post is all about that report.
Firstly, however, I normally share this post on a Sunday and a podcast on a Monday. Due to being full of cold, I am a little late sharing this report and this week's podcast is a going to be recorded a bit later in the week. I do apologise for that but I don't want to be recording with a lot of coughing.
Weekly harvest report.
This weeks harvest has been interesting. Lovely fresh food is certainly coming in which giving this time of year I am really enjoying.
- 100g of salad leaves. A mix of spinach, chard, rocket and sorrel. This would have cost £1.00 from a shop.
- 11 chicken eggs. which would have cost £2.75 from a shop.
- 21 quail eggs were laid this week but of this 21, 6 eggs were placed in the incubator to try to get more quail. This left us with 15 eggs for eating. these would have cost us £3.15 from a shop.
This week's total.
All this together brings this week's total too £6.90 had we brought all this produce from a shop. I am pretty happy with that amount of food to be fair although I will be very happy to get more great food coming in from the plots.

I harvested 52 litres of veg this week and we bartered a few litres for tomatoes and 12 eggs. We had chard, spinach, perpetual spinach, bulls blood leaves, lots of mixed lettuce, claytonia, corn salad, radish, spring onions, sprouts, Kalletes, broccoli, carrots, kale, kale florets, pac choi; potatoes, onions, shallots and beetroot from the store; and finally beans, apple sauce, blackberry vinegar and berry compote from the freezer.
Wow, that is a lot of food you are harvesting this early on in the season Steve. Well done. Just goes to show how much can be produced by thinking ahead.
