Weekly harvest report for week 22 of 2019.

Each week I like to share my weekly harvest report. Reporting what I've harvested over the last week and seeing how much that would have cost from a shop.

Weekly harvest report.

This week we have harvested the following.

  • 18 chicken eggs which would have cost us £4.50 from a shop.
  • 7 quail eggs which would have cost us £1.47 from a shop.
  • 1kg of rhubarb which would have cost us £6.88 from a shop.
  • 250g strawberries which would have cost us £1.50 from a shop.
  • 400g broad beans which would have cost us £1.75 from a shop.
  • 2 small onions which would have cost us 50p from a shop.
  • A large amount of elder flowers and onion scapes but these are not sold in a shop.
  • A selection of herbs and salad leaves harvested as required. We allow £1 for this.

That brings this week's total value to £17.60 and the total for the year to £242.53.

Another pleasing week although finding interesting ways to use rhubarb is becoming challenging. I've added elderflower and onion scapes to the list although I can't find any prices for these. I'm sure there maybe more items that are not sold in shops but that's one of the pleasures of growing your own.

From the vegepod.

Another great week from the vegepod with plenty of salads coming from this.

  • 400g of mixed salad leaf which would have cost £4 from a shop.
  • 100g rocket which would have cost £1 from a shop.
100g mustard leaf which would have cost £1 from a shop.

That means this week's total value to £6 and the total for the year to £19.
